Necessary Voices
Our Story is One that Deserves to Be Taught, Told, and Preserved : InProgress James Baldwin
James Baldwin is a writer who cannot be defined in a sentence or with a brief expression. His works include fiction, non fiction, essays and plays. As I work on this first issue of Necessary Voices I am reading his work and find that I am compelled to read as much as I can to get a full embodiment of his library. What was he trying to say that he didn't say in interviews? The thrust of Necessary Voices is that it will be a literary journal that looks at the work and not the personality. James Baldwin is a celebrity in his own right but what about his writing? I find with my schedule it my take years to produce the first issue I will release. In spite of that, here are some words from James Baldwin which inspire me towards making sure that our writers have a place where their work has a home:
“Those who say it can’t be done are usually interrupted by others doing it.”- James Baldwin, Notes of a Native Son
